MY QUALIFICATIONS
I qualified with an
Honours degree in Clinical Psychology and soon realised that I wanted to work in a therapeutic way. I left Australia to train in London and completed a foundation course with the
Institute of Group Analysis. I was working in a Day Centre at the time and discovered that I prefered to work individually and in private practice. This is because a person paying for treatment shows a level of commitment to the therapeutic process.
I embarked on a training with the
Association of Independent Psychotherapists as I liked the way they structured the course, taking each stage we go through from birth to death. So I was able to study and think about important changes in our various lives from birth to childhood, from childhood to adolesence, from adolesence to adulthood, marriage and sexuality, through to midlife and on to death.
After qualifying, I registered with
UKCP and I am still with them.
For a number of years I attended a weekly workshop at the
Portman Clinic which specialises in difficult problems from
eating disorders to perverse and sexual problems.
I am very interested in working with
eating disorders and recently I have been working with people who have found they have a recurrence of
anorexia in midlife.
Many people I have helped have found that they have
'felt stuck' in their lives and I have been able to help them move on to more creative endeavours.
